City Assessor
The Assessor's
Office is responsible for valuing the more than 10,000 real
estate parcels in the City. General reassessments are completed every
two years (January 1 of all odd-numbered years) on all properties. The
value of new construction or renovation work is added every year. The
purpose of this office is to insure that the burden of real estate
taxation is distributed fairly among all the property owners in the
City.
Visitors may access public information related to individual real estate parcels using the city's online GIS system or a computer terminal in the Assessor's Office. Printouts are available at no charge. A satellite terminal containing the same information is available at the Circuit Court Clerk's Office in the City Courthouse (113 E. Beverley Street).
Parcel boundary maps and topographic maps (both at 1"=100' scale) are available for inspection, with copies of maps available from the City Engineer (modest fee charged).
