The Staunton Police Department is an internationally accredited, full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the citizens of the City of Staunton, Virginia. The Department consists of fifty sworn officers and seventeen full-time civilian employees. In addition to providing twenty-four hour patrol coverage and criminal investigative functions, the Department is very active in community policing.
The Staunton Police Department sponsors Virginia Rules, mentorship/shadow, and School Resource Officer programs for the area's youth, a Citizen's Police Academy, Neighborhood and Business Watch programs, as well as a number of other crime prevention initiatives.
The Department operates the City's state-of-the-art Enhanced-911 Center. The E-911 Center, which serves as the primary answering point for the City's 9-1-1 calls, dispatches calls for service for police, fire, and the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad.
