Gypsy Hill Golf Course

This course is an 18-hole, par 71, public golf course located in Gypsy Hill Park, just off Churchville Avenue (Route 250 West). The Course is open to the public year-round. Over 20,000 rounds a year are played over its well-manicured, gently-rolling hills. Facilities include a new golf pavilion, a fully-stocked pro shop, cart rentals, professional lessons and clinics and a full tournament schedule. Yardages are -- blue tees = 5,899; white tees = 5,587; red tees = 4,436

Driving Directions

Exit 222 on I-81 into Staunton on Richmond Avenue (Route 250 West). Turn right at end onto Greenville Avenue (Route 11 North), stay in left lane through railroad underpass and turn left past giant Watering Can sculpture onto Greenville Avenue. Turn right on Augusta Street at Court House. Travel north to Churchville Avenue and turn left in front of the Staunton Public Library onto Churchville Avenue. Turn left at the Park entrance onto Thornrose Avenue and enter the Park a short distance later opposite the Statler Complex. Inside the Park, pass the National Guard Armory and turn right. Turn left at the top of the hill to enter the Club parking area.

Golf Pro

Wes Allred is the pro at Gypsy Hill Golf Club. On Wednesday, August 13, 1997, he lowered the course record to 61. The 10-under-par performance featured 10 birdies and no bogeys, playing from the blue tees. The previous record of 63 was set in 1975 by N. L. Deaver, playing from the white tees.
