GYPSY HILL PARK POOL

is an L-shaped, Olympic size pool with a separate children's pool, plus full concession stand and locker room facilities. It is located in Gypsy Hill Park along the Churchville Avenue side and may be accessed from the main Churchville Avenue entrance. Grassy areas are available within the pool area for sunbathers. Parking is available along the Park's loop road, Constitution Drive. The pool is operated and maintained by the Department of Parks & Recreation.

4 years and older: $3.00
3 years and younger: Free
Pool Pass, 20 Visits $50.00

POOL PARTY RENTALS:

$200 for a 3 hour minimum + $50/guard
15 or less: 1 guard, 15 or more: 2 guards

Lifeguard Training Course
This class equips lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic related emergencies. Pre-Requisites: Must be at least 15 years of age and pass the pre-test by showing proficiency in various water skills. After passing the complete course participants will receive the following certifications:
Lifeguard Training and First Aid (valid for 3 years)
CPR for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 1 year)

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Course
Students will learn to respond to breathing and car¬diac emergencies in adults, children and infants, use an AED on an adult or child victim of cardiac ar¬rest and use personal protective equipment to stop blood borne pathogens and other diseases from spreading.

Lifeguard & CPR Review/Challenge Courses

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Review Course
Class offers course review with written exam and skills evaluation. Must hold current certification.

Lifeguard Re-certification Course
This course will offer review and practice. Participants must complete lifeguard pre-course skills test, written exam, and skills evaluation. Must hold current certification.

Lifeguard/CPRo Challenges
A challenge may be taken during either the CPR or Lifeguard courses. No review will be provided for challenge participants. Challenges are only for those who are renewing CURRENT AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING CERTIFICATIONS.  If the certification has already expired, the entire course must be repeated.  Call for specific times.

Swimming Lessons
Registrations are made at Recreation Administration in Montgomery Hall Park between 8am-5pm, Mon- Fri. Minimum age is five years old. All classes are taught by American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate upon completion of class. All lessons will be held at Gypsy Hill Park Pool. Please look over the water skills checklist in the Recreation Department office to determine which level would be the best fit for your child.
Price: $60 per session.  Last day to register is the Friday before the session begins.

Sessions:
Three week sessions (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)
for a total of 9 Classes
Session I:  June 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28
Session II: July 9, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19, 23, 25, 26
Must have at least 3 participants signed up for swim program to begin.
 
Times:
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills:  6:00-6:30
Level 2 Fundamental Water Skills:  6:45-7:30
Level 3 & 4 Stroke Development/Improvement:  5:00-5:45
Level 5 & 6 Stroke Refinement/Skill Proficiency or Adult Learn to Swim: TBA

 

Senior Lap Swim
Exclusive to adults over the age of 50 years (ID required) enjoy the Gypsy Hill Park Swimming Pool all to yourselves. 

Wednesdays and Saturdays
9am-11am

Sundays
11am-1pm
 
Price: $1 per day

 

POOL AREA RULES
1. No diving in the shallow end of the pool or in any area
marked "NO DIVING."
2. No "horseplay" in or around the pool.
3. No running inside pool facility.
4. No talking with on duty lifeguards unless it's official
business or in an emergency.
5. No playing on ladders, stairs, ropes, or with rescue
equipment.
6. Persons swimming and diving in the deep end must be
able to swim the width of the deep end if the lifeguard
makes a request.
7. Persons loitering, smoking, under the influence of or
consuming alcoholic beverages are prohibited on City
property.
8. The use of abusive or profane language or other
conduct deemed improper by the pool staff shall be
grounds for expulsion.
9. Children 12 years old and under must be accompanied
by an adult (18 or over) at all times.
10. Toys and/or flotation devices must meet lifeguard
approval.  No flotation devices allowed in the deep
end.  No hard balls, frisbees, water guns will be
allowed. Use of toys may be restricted at the
discretion of the lifeguard.
11. City pools are smoke free zones.
12. Rest breaks are called for all youth (under 18 years of
age) 15 minutes before the hour of every hour.
13. Anyone caught vandalizing or destroying pool facilities
will be asked to leave for the remainder of the pool
season.
14. Swim diapers are required for any child not potty
trained.
15. In the event of the pool closing, rainchecks will not be
given.

BATHHOUSE RULES
1. No loitering or "horseplay" in the bathhouse.
2. No one is allowed in or around the mechanical room
except the Aquatics Facility Manager and those
authorized.
3. Only pool personnel allowed in the office area.
4. Only necessary short LOCAL calls may be made on the
pool telephone.
