OVERNIGHT TRIP


Vegas Baby! Las Vegas, NV
Fly to Las Vegas on May 20 to enjoy 4 days and 3 nights
of nonstop excitement on the world’s most famous strip!
Take in a show, go see the Grand Canyon, play some
desert golf, or gamble 24 hours a day- you choose what
you would like to do once we arrive in Vegas. Includes:
Roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations at Excalibur
Hotel and Casino. Price: $501 per person based on
double occupancy. Reserve your spot with $300 deposit
with balance due by April 21.

Short Pump Shopping Trip
With over 200 stores to explore, this open air 2-story
shopping center has it all, from Nordstrom’s to Crate &
Barrel, to the Cheesecake Factory. Dress appropriately for
the weather. Saturday, March 21. Depart GHPG at 8am,
Return around 6pm. Price: $26 (includes transportation).

Astronomy at the Stokesville Observatory
Our night skies are full of wonder and unearthly marvels.
If you catch yourself staring at the stars on a clear dark
night, fascinated by the sky’s beauty, then this evening
is for you! Join us for a presentation by Earl Downs,
a JPL Solar System Ambassador, tour the Stokesville
Observatory and look through the observatory telescope
trained on some of the wonders of the universe. There
will be no moon so the skies will be very dark for
excellent deep sky observations. In partnership with the
Shenandoah Valley Stargazers. Club members will have
additional telescopes set up for those in attendance for
viewing the night sky. Sign up early so you won’t be
disappointed. Limited space! All ages. Monday, March 21.
Depart GHPG at 6pm. Price: $9. Register by: ASAP

Dobie Mountain Hike
Come enjoy one of the lesser known hikes right in our own
backyard. It shares a parking area with Humpback Rocks!
This 4 mile loop trail is a moderate hike, with elevation
gains of approximately 1000 feet. The highlights include
some great views of our own Rockfish Valley and an old
plane wreckage. In partnership with Waynesboro Parks
and Recreation. Trip Leader: Spencer Eavers. Ages 8+.
8-14 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. Bring
a backpack, lunch, and water bottle. Wear weather
appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Saturday,
March 28. Departs at 10am, Return at 2:30pm. Depart
from Rosenwald Community Center in Waynesboro.
Price: $5. Register by: March 20

Caving: Kees Cave
Go underground and explore! This caving trip is great for
beginners, mostly horizontal with some crawling. Learn
caving safety, underground navigation and all about
limestone cave formations. A suggested what-to-wear list
will be provided upon registration. Ages 10+. Guide: Lester Zook of Wild Guyde Adventures. Sunday, March 1. Depart GHPG parking lot at noon. Price: $39.

Mother’s Day trip to Williamsburg
Looking for a gift idea for Mother’s Day or a relaxing
escape for you? Then this overnight trip to Williamsburg
is for you. We’ll arrive in Williamsburg on Sunday and
head to The Williamsburg Winery where we’ll have a
guided tour of the vineyard and a wine tasting. After that
it’s on to the hotel and then to dinner. On Monday morning
we’ll venture to the Premium Outlets where we will do
‘our duty’ to boost the local economy with our shopping
purchases. Our hotel has an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness
center and a complimentary hot breakfast. Fee includes
van transportation, vineyard tour, wine tasting and hotel
accommodations. Sunday, May 3 leave at 10:30am
and return Monday, May 4 around 7pm. Depart from
Rosenwald Community Center in Waynesboro. Price: TBD.

Monticello
Spend a day on the beautiful grounds of Monticello and
get an intimate look at Thomas Jefferson. We will begin
with a one and a half hour guided tour of Jefferson’s
home Monticello. Get a behind the scenes look at this
architectural icon and gain access to all levels of the home
including the iconic “Dome Room” on the third floor. Please
note: This tour is not handicap-accessible and involves
climbing steep stairs. Afterwards head outside for guided
Gardens and Grounds tours as well as the guided Slavery
at Monticello tour. Enjoy lunch at the café at Monticello
and check out the visitor’s center, museum shop, and
many other exhibitions and activities. Ages 6+. Saturday,
April 11. Price: $59 (includes day pass, tour ticket and

Bed & Breakfast Tour & Lunch
Enjoy touring two of Staunton’s most frequented Bed and
Breakfasts; Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Thornrose
House. We will begin our morning at Thornrose House,
a charming and historic 1912 Georgian-style brick home
designed by renowned Staunton architect T.J. Collins. Next
we will head right around the corner to Anne Hathaway’s
Cottage. This romantic cottage is a smaller replica of the
farmhouse where the wife of William Shakespeare grew
up in England. It has a real thatched roof and brass
rubbings of both William Shakespeare and Anne
Hathaway. Tour the garden as it comes into full bloom
for spring and enjoy lunch in the Great Room. Meet at
Montgomery Hall Park Irene Givens parking lot at 10am.

Charlestown Races
Take a trip to the Casino in West Virginia and try your luck!
Saturday, January 24. Depart Gypsy Hill Park at 10am and
return at 10pm. Price: $25 (Includes transportation only).
