STREET CLOSING: South Lewis Street partially closed to upgrade water line
PROJECT UPDATE, FEB. 1, 2017:
This project has been extended to replace an additional water line on Middlebrook Avenue. Expected project completion date is March 3. The total updated cost for the entire project is approximately $110,000.
December 2, 2016 — A water-line project on South Lewis Street is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 5 and continue over a three-week period.
Approximately 400 feet of water line on South Lewis Street, from Byers Street to Johnson Street, will be upgraded this month. Fire hydrants will also be replaced.
As a result, there will be limited water outages at adjacent properties and northbound traffic on Lewis Street will be detoured to Byers Street. Byers Street will also be restricted to one-way access from Lewis Street during the project.
The work is part of the City’s effort to upgrade undersized and leaking water lines. The Lewis Street project will cost just more than $75,500.
Questions and concerns should be directed to the City’s engineering department at 540.332.3858.
